Wild Turkey Tail

Turkey Tail, or Trametes versicolor, is the source of Polysaccharide K – or PSK for short – and is probably the most widely studied medicinal mushroom in the world.

PSK

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERATurkey Tail has already been used in many commercial anti-cancer medicines, in particular in “Krestin”, an approved anti-cancer drug in Asia and has already proven to be very beneficial in treating breast cancer.  PSK reduces cancer metastasis (cancer spreading to other parts of the body) and also stimulates interleukin-1 production in human cells (part of the body’s natural defense mechanism against cancerous cells).

PSK is also a very effective scavenger of free-radical oxidizing compounds through its production of manganese superoxide dismutase (a super anti-oxidant) so it offers excellent support in protecting our cells from free radical oxidative stress.

PSK has also been found to be effective against E coli and  Staphylococcus aureus infections as well as against the Candida albicans fungus.

PSP

Turkey Tail also contains PSP – polysaccharopeptide – that has possible use as a powerful antiviral agent against HIV and also increases the production of interferon, interleukin-2 and T-cells – all part of the body’s immune defenses. Polysaccharopeptides also have very strong immunomodulating properties (adjusting the immune system either up or down in order to balance it according to its needs).

Research is underway, but it is looking very hopeful that PSP is extremely effective in destroying prostate cancer stem cells.

Anti-Viral, Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Tumour

Turkey Tail is loaded with antioxidants and as well as being anti-viral, also boasts powerful antibacterial and anti-tumour properties. It is also one of the most effective natural substances for destroying harmful chemical toxins both in the human body and the natural environment.

Turkey Tail and Chemotherapy

Turkey Tail is also a very effective chemo-protective agent in the sense that even when a person is undergoing chemotherapy, Turkey Tail can support the destruction of malignant cells while shielding the healthy cells from the damaging effects of the treatment – another function that is attributed to PSK.  So in this way Turkey Tail has become very well known for offering a natural, multifaceted healing approach to breast, lung & colon cancer, sarcoma, carcinoma and leukaemia.

Turkey Tail in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Turkey Tail is beneficial for infections and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract; infections and irritations of the digestive tract, infections of the urinary tract, lung diseases, chronic congestion and general lack of energy/not feeling well.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Turkey Tail is used to clear phlegm and excessive dampness from the body and to increase life force.  It is also considered to be a powerful liver tonic.

Turkey Tail and Urinary Tract Infections

As mentioned above, Turkey Tail is very effective at treating urinary tract infections (UTI’s).  We have had an excellent testimonial from someone who had been suffering from a chronic UTI for 3 months and our Turkey Tail tincture cleared it up within 2 days!  The lady in question went back to her doctor after this – who found absolutely no trace of the infection remaining.

Turkey Tail and HPV

There is now evidence of Turkey Tail being used to treat the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – the pre-cursor to cervical cancer.

Turkey Tail – Woman’s Best Friend!

With Turkey Tail’s effectiveness at treating breast cancer, UTI’s and HPV – it really is a Woman’s Best Friend!  A wonderful ally to add to your medicine cabinet, ladies 🙂

Wild-Harvested Dual Extraction Tinctures

There are an enormity of other health benefits to consider when consuming Turkey Tail and it can be consumed on a regular basis even if there is no evidence of disease.  It is a biological response modifier and can support the healthy, balanced functioning of many levels of our being. Wild Turkey Tail is by far the most potent variety, and our dual extraction tincture (alcohol & hot water) provides the full spectrum of its beneficial nutrients and active constituents.

Turkey Tail is easy to identify in the wild and is one of the most prolific mushrooms on the planet (particularly in the northern hemisphere).  Turkey Tail varies in colour on top of the mushroom but is uniformly white underneath.  They grow in clusters on decaying trees and, in our experience at least, seem to prefer branches rather than trunks of trees.

Oh yes, and the monkeys at our place LOVE them!  And we could do far worse than to “eat like a monkey”!   🙂

Directions For Use

Turkey Tail is a tonic herb and, as such, can safely be taken daily in high or frequent doses.  We suggest 1-3 squirts/squeezes of the pipette per day as a good maintenance dose – but this can be increased as needed/desired.  Shake well before use.

Testimonials

Highly Recommended For Female Organ-Related Infections
After experiencing good results using this for chronic thrush infection, recommended & purchased for friends suffering from very bad UTI and other female organ related infections. Helped them heal completely and even gave them a boost of energy.   (Aysha)

Sorts Thrush & UTI Symptoms Right Out!
Cannot not have this in my pantry!  Gals – let me tell you – this stuff is OUT OF THIS WORLD for making a potential UTI go nuts.  I haven’t ever had to take it with a full blown one – although I’m sure it would work – it would just take longer. But the minute I feel symptoms coming on – these drops every morning for a few days sort it right out and restore my body back to my normal. I wouldn’t go travelling without it – that’s for sure!   (Andrea)

Chronic Candida Totally Healed
I’m a heterosexual male and I have suffered with chronic candida for almost 20 years – being sexually intimate had become so difficult, with a constant candida breakout. I’ve consulted doctors so often, was given diflucan; antifungal creams etc and, per chance, I came across this product, tried it and it didn’t just suppress the condition but completely healed me…  I’m so grateful and definitely recommend it to anyone having issues with chronic candida. It also sorted my tummy issues out, feel less bloated and crampy in my stomach with an added peak in my energy levels!   (Zo)

Keeps The Gut Microbiome In Shape
One of the major benefits of Turkey Tail is it’s ability to beneficially alter the gut microbiome by purging out bad bacteria and pathogens in the gut, giving the upper hand to the good bacteria. I’ve been using it for only a week now and have noticed a major difference compared to other herbal remedies I’ve tried. I’m sure they all help, but it’s only after introducing Turkey Tail that I’ve noticed such an amazing improvement in such a short time.  As a bonus, I have my energy back.  (Rayno)

Goodbye Candida & UTI
Cannot believe I forgot to review this product!  I bought it based on its very first review. It definitely cleared my chronic candida – I used apple cider, colloidal silver, different types of anti-fungals and tablets previously – but nothing removed it completely!!! It started affecting my sex life, as it was just painful and unpleasant to be intimate. Thank goodness for Turkey Tail tincture, by Day 3 I even noticed I could hold my wee longer ( I usually go every hour as I have a weak bladder and drink 2-3 litres of water per day) – which was an added bonus. I highly recommend this – also noticed an increase in energy.  I used it as directed, full dropper in hot water (cooled after boiling), 3 times a day.  Worth the buy!  (Happy V)

Yes, eating monkeys makes us go bananas!

Thanks for the delightful writings. When can we expect a few recipes on how to use these lovely flowers of the forest? Next time I go out hunting some pine rings, I’ll be sure to keep an eye of for Turkey Tails. These photos will help me recognise them.

    One Love.

Hi Santhan, will try and put our “Superhero Tea” recipe up in the next few days – so keep checking in or subscribe to our blog feed. Turkey Tail is such an awesome mushroom – great to drink in tea every day or take as tincture – will hopefully make a video about tincture-making soon too 🙂

I recently bought this product and have started to use it. I am however not sure how often this should be used in order to hopefully help prevent cancer. The dosage is given as 1 – 3 droplets. Is this per day? Or should it be used more than once per day? I would really appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction

Hi Delano, thanks for getting in touch. Turkey Tail should be used in doses of 1-3 droppersful per day (a dropperful is simply one squeeze of the dropper in the liquid to fill it, then all of that liquid directly into your mouth or into water). If you do feel to use more, however, then go ahead… It shouldn’t be necessary to take more (unless possibly when treating cancer) but Turkey Tail is an adaptogen – it adapts itself to your body’s specific needs – so it’s not possible to overdose on it either. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more info 🙂 Juliet

I also have the same problem. The directions are not clear.
By full dropper I assume, I must fill the whole dropper with the medicine and then mix with water or herbal tea.
But how much water or herbal tea, a cup?
So the way I take it, i put 3 full droppers in half a cup of tea .
I would like to know if I can do this twice a day, morning and evening.
    I am a cancer patient

Hi Lulu, thanks for getting in touch. Turkey Tail should be used in doses of 1-3 droppersful per day (a dropperful is simply one squeeze of the dropper, which gives a measured dose for the size dropper we use – 1ml per squeeze – then take liquid directly into your mouth or put into water). The dosage you are using is fine – as I mentioned in the reply to Delano below, Turkey Tail is an adaptogen – it adapts itself to your body’s specific needs – so it’s not possible to overdose on it either. Hope this clarifies things for you – but do let me know if you need any further info. Thanks Lulu! 🙂 Juliet

    Hi,

I don’t understand what the 1:4 ratio means.

If your product is 50 ml, assuming that 1 ml = 1 g, does that mean that there is 12,5 grams of turkey tail in a bottle; or does it mean that there is 200 grams?

Asking because I am trying to dose this product in accordance to the recommendations prescribed in the medical literature.

    Thank you,
    Damon

Hi Damon, thanks for getting in touch. 1:4 means that the tincture is concentrated in the proportion of 1 part menstruum (plant material) to 4 parts liquid (alcohol & water combined). 1ml pure water weighs 1g – with other liquids it depends on how dense the liquid is. But the liquid part of the tincture is weighed each time and the menstruum added accordingly. In this case, alcohol weighs slightly less than water, So if you break it down per bottle, you would actually be looking at approximately 11.5g turkey tail to per 50ml alcohol/water. And one squeeze of the dropper draws 1ml tincture up into the pipette (ie there are 50 doses per bottle). Hope this helps clarify! 🙂
